Naming conventions
[edit]Would there be any objections to renaming the article to Variegated fairy-wren? Per naming conventions and the manual of style, unnecessary capitalisation is generally avoided. MSGJ (talk) 12:37, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Erm, there are a heck of alot of bird articles, and special rules as it seems all bird names are capitalized.
I will post a link. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Birds#Bird_names_and_article_titles Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting. I didn't know that. MSGJ (talk) 13:18, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Why is this article at the wrong place? The name of the bird is Variegated Fairy-wren. This is the only correct name, and is the name by which this species is known in every authoritative reference. Tannin (talk) 12:23, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- sigh - take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds and you'll see we've had a fair few discussions about IOC names -see Talk:Australian_Wood_Duck, Talk:Tasmanian Nativehen and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Birds#Locked_articles.2FIOC_changes Casliber (talk · contribs) 13:02, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
