A polish tabloid is no reliable and scientific source for his alleged partly polish ancestry. By thee way in 1864 there was no poland, so how could his mother be polish? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.221.19.97 (talk) 11:34, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Walther, his first name, is frequently (mis)spelled "Walter"

[edit]

I'm finding his first name spelled WITHOUT the "h" (Walter instead of Walther--used exclusively in this article) about 20% of the time counting the number of Google search results returned ("Walther Nernst" -"Walter") versus ("Walter Nernst" -"Walther") and about 18% of the time using 2020-2022 English Google Ngram results. I wonder if one misspelling in a 1911 Scientific American article about him caused much of the "Walter" spelling. Or is Walter just an alternative spelling? Can anyone contribute anything?
