WCHS in Potomac, Maryland
[edit]The high school I graduated from, a Montgomery County, Maryland public school located in Potomac is also named Winston Churchill High School. My school possesses a higher enrollment than this one [1], and, located in an affluent suburb of Washington, D.C., has many notable alumni. I would like to create an article on my WCHS, but propose a disambiguation page be placed here so that no school by that name (of which there are likely many) have precedence simply because of the order in which articles were created.VJ 06:02, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Name change
[edit]I thought it was a smart idea to rename the article, but I'm confused at why the city's name (with or without the province) wasn't used, given the existence of a similiar, though not identical, school name in the province. We could then have all the old article names (those named for the same person), point to a single disambig/list page. --rob 07:13, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- Well, my thinking was that I just wanted to disambiguate it with the only other Winston Churchill High School there was an article for (the one in Maryland, the article for which I just created). I figured specifying the article name by country wouldn't be granular enough (I'm sure there are other high schools named after Churchill in the US and Canada), and that specifying by city name would be too granular (also, specifying a city always requires specifying the state/province as well, since city names are so far from unique). I think it's sufficient, especially since I created a disambiguation page for Winston Churchill High School that links to all three schools, the one in Maryland and the two in Alberta, so whenever anybody searches for Winston Churchill High School, they'll see both options. In any case, if you want to change the qualifiers from state/province to city, I won't object. -VJ 07:37, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, on rethought, your right about this article's name, the province is sufficient, and saves keystrokes. --rob 07:57, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
