Claims
[edit]Is there any evidence, apart from the claims of the Nackawic tourism board, that this actually is the largest "giant axe" to be found anywhere in the world? Certainly others exist in various forestry communities; I know there used to be one in Hobart, Tasmania, for example; from fading memory and by waggling my thumb back-and-forth, I'd say the Canadian one is a bit larger (plus double-bitted, whereas the Tasmanian one is a more practical single-bitted felling axe), but it's hard to say. There are also quite a few enormous Paul Bunyan statues floating around; once again, I'd guess their axes aren't quite as big as this, but I'm not sure. -- 202.63.39.58 (talk) 08:59, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Good point. I created the article as I live close to said Nackawic axe, though I only propelled the tourism board's claim assuming it was true. I just tried searching Guinness World Records but I could not find an entry. A Google search with the name of the article presented stating that Nackawick has the largest axe. Not sure how to actually confirm this. I guess we have to hope other users will list all other large axes (+ dimensions) in the world and posting them here in Talk. Wish I had a better answer!
