light house?

[edit]

is it also the tallest light house in the world?

It's considered by many as the tallest lighthouse in the world and often recognized as such, but it depends on a definition of a lighthouse. It's not for sure, a traditional lighthouse. A "traditional lighthouse" can be defined as "a building built by navigation safety authorities primarily as an aid to navigation". Yokohama Marine Tower has navigational lights on top, but it was originally a commercial venture, that went out of business in December 2006, and is now administrated by The City of Yokohama.(see: Rowlett, Russ. The Lighthouse Directory. However, I think this can/should be mentioned in the article, with due reservations.--JotaCartas (talk) 16:49, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Something is Wrong!

[edit]

As far as I could get on the Internet, the 106 meters in height are correct. Thus, the conversion to 324 feet is wrong. Should be 348 feet. The World's Greatest Japanese, The Japan Economy Review, Sabin, Birrit. The Japan Times, Rowlett, Russ. The Lighthouse Directory. This error is spread over several articles, various Wikipedia Projects and all over the WEB.--JotaCartas (talk) 16:54, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid confusion, ALWAYS use {{convert}} (and do it properly).--Muhandes (talk) 08:50, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
