Ref improvements needed; published in BBC, Guardian - better sources would be good

[edit]

@Celestinesucess: Many of these references should be improved. For example, a yahoo consent URL and the HRF home page are not very useful for someone who wishes to look at these references to see if they agree with the information that they are supposed to support.

The claims that Elbagir has "been featured" in specific international media would better be supported by references to some of the online text versions of those of the sources which have this, since these have better established reputations as more or less reliable sources than the three references presently given in the second sentence of the lead. I would also shift this detailed sentence to the main body rather than the lead. Boud (talk) 01:09, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Boud: thank you for the suggestions, I really found them helpful. I have updated the article in that regard. Celestinesucess (talk) 07:07, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Celestinesucess: Nice :) - I think the lead looks good now. Boud (talk) 13:30, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

[edit]
Comparing this earlier version which had the text
  • Elbagir is known to have initiated a global debate on social media through her campaign, #SudanUnderSanction, which offered Sudanese women a platform to voice their grievances caused by the aftermath of the crippling trade embargo.[14]
with the the present version in which HRF states the sentence
  • Her social media campaign, #SudanUnderSanction, initiated a global debate which offered Sudanese women a platform to voice their grievances caused by the aftermath of the crippling trade embargo.
I suggest that you have a good read through WP:PARAPHRASE (and WP:COPYVIO in case you haven't looked at it recently). We really do have to summarise information in our own words - copy/pasting and paraphrasing is not acceptable (except if the source material is free-licensed, and even in that case, minor shifts in text are usually not enough to put information appropriately into the context). well noted. thanks Celestinesucess (talk) 16:04, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to be rescued

[edit]

I removed the reference ref name=":4" "HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media". consent.yahoo.com. Retrieved 2020-02-17. /ref because at the moment it's not very useful. I'm putting it here in case someone can work out what it was supposed to be. Boud (talk) 13:30, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Boud:okay good. Thank you. Celestinesucess (talk) 13:56, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
