on 20th November 2019, promoters - Essel Group - announced intention to sell additional 16.5% of their stake which will bring down promoter stake to 5%. On 21st November, 150mn shares of Zee Entertainment were sold in blocks at market price of INR304/share. with this transaction, overhang on share price due to promoter pledge is gone. Essel group owned 41.6% shares in Zee Entertainment before pledge shares issue appear. Post the resolution of pledge shares issue, promoters are left with only 5% stake out of which 1.1% is still encumbered. Although, Puneet Goenka is expected to remain CEO of the company and so promoters will continue to run company with small stake in it. Dt7inn (talk) 09:48, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Under recent developments, would request if the below point can be added:

On 21st November 2019, the promoters of ZEE sold 16.5% of their shares in block deals to repay lenders. [1] Niravnaik1991 (talk) 11:47, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. This is a routine business transaction and likely has no encyclopedic notability. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:16, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The transaction has led to the company having the highest share of institutional investors in India amongst listed entities on stock exchange and hence it is notable. Niravnaik1991 (talk) 19:03, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

BCAST?

[edit]

User:Tayi Arajakate, can you please explain why you redirected this article to Essel Group? You vaguely mentioned BCAST in your edit summary but I don't know how that is applicable here. There is more than enough coverage on ZEEL for us to have a separate article. This company is a NIFTY 50 component, for starters. You should have started with a discussion or at the very least written a better edit summary before making that edit. M4DU7 (talk) 20:55, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I initially redirected it to Zee TV citing BCAST which states that sister channels under the same brand can be merged into a single article. I do understand the action wasn't completely in line with the policy since this is the broadcasting company rather than a channel under the brand but the article as it stood had no citations for most of its text and was hardly in an encyclopedic form, potentially with promotional content in it. I changed the redirect to Essel Group once I expanded that article and added a section for the company. I do intend to convert this page into a proper article at some point though I've no objections if you or anyone were to revert it back to how it was. Sorry for not making it clearer on how I went about it. Tayi Arajakate Talk 09:26, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That makes more sense. As you have worked on this topic extensively, I think you are in a better position to recreate the article. So I'll leave it to you to work on it whenever you can. M4DU7 (talk) 19:15, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
