Suggestions

[edit]

I think these kinds of plant based articles are very useful;this kind of information is often difficult to find (sometimes in Botanical Society proceedings that are not currently available electronically). Some things that would help this article, 1., a review of the botany. 2.An historical summary of some of the work done in the US earlier with Thad Howard's work documented. A contribution from John Fellers himself would be valuable. The link to Fadjar Marta's web site is helpful, but some information directly from him would be wonderful. Also the work being done in Australia would be useful. Mr. Jim Frechette has very valuable information for contribution. It would be a shame not to record some of this information. 3. This article could flesh out the biochemical/biomedical uses of the genus. Some of these are old 1950's and some very recent. 4. Taxonomy is always a problem since it changes, but clarification is always good. 5. This article should link to Habranthus and Haylockia (both are related-may have breeding potential 6. the pacific bulb society has been linked, there are other useful photos.Planttc 16:40, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Style problems

[edit]

The article may be very useful as noted above, but as currently written much of it is not suitable for an encyclopedia such as Wikipedia, in large part because it is not in accordance with WP:NOTMANUAL. Examples:

  • "Care should be taken with the plants since many of the parts, leaves, bulbs etc. are currently considered toxic."
  • "Seed usually is best sown quickly after harvest..."
  • "Since they are so lovely, some attention from current rainlily breeders may develop cultivars with greater cold hardness."
  • The Cultivation and Breeding sections need drastic cuts to conform to WP:NOTMANUAL.

There is also very little inline referencing. Peter coxhead (talk) 21:04, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be an early work of User:Koibeatu. He's still very active. Try contacting him, maybe?-- Obsidin Soul 22:27, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 20:34, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
