Almasbek Akmatov
[edit]- that before becoming a deputy for the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan, Almasbek Akmatov obtained three different degrees from three different universities? ([1],[2])
ALT1: that Almasbek Akmatov had his corruption case dropped after he sued for "protection of honor and dignity?" Source: "Был уволен с должности по подозрению в коррупции. После увольнения А.Акматов подавал в суд иск о защите чести и достоинства, который он выиграл, тем самым опровергнув обвинения в вымогательстве взятки." [3]
- Comment: Final free DYK credit. Will try to review something else afterwards, as was told to in last nom. I've also added an ALT, but it might cross the line related to negative focus on a person.

- Article is new enough, long enough, and doesn't exhibit any major problem. Not sure how reliable centrasia.ru is; it appears to allow user contributions? Would it be possible to add more sources, given this is a BLP? (The centrasia.ru page appears to cite a newspaper article—are there news pieces that could be directly cited?) Also, a few questions. Could you clarify what kind of degrees those mentioned in the main hook are? The article doesn't specify whether they're undergraduate or graduate degrees, or some other kind of short-course certificate. (I don't know anything about the Kazakh education system, but It seems strange to me for someone in his forties to go to attend university for so many degrees.) For Alt1, can you confirm that there was an actual corruption case that was dropped? I don't know how reliable Google Translate is for Russian, but translated, the source doesn't appear to directly mention a case, only that charges were refuted. Finally, thanks for your review of 2009 Sky Blue FC season—feel free to use the credit in your next DYK nomination. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:53, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: I also wondered whether centrasia.ru accepted user contributions, and then I was going to remove them all from the articles I had put this website on, until I realised that this was not the case. Be aware that politicians in Kyrgyzstan, especially high-ranking ones, enjoy suing news outlets for libel, and the libel laws in Kyrgyzstan are quite strict. Not Kazakhstan, by the way, dear.
- Anyway, I see what you mean about the fact that it appears to originally come from a news outlet called "Bagyt.kg", with a page number, which must mean that it is the print edition of this website. I have tried to use GTranslate on Kyrgyz before: no, not good enough (Russian you can trust with GT nowadays, I use it for my Anki flashcards), and it probably isn't on the website. I have no information on the types of degrees, and I am having trouble finding a second source to say that he was subject to a corruption case, seems to be more like he was fired. This is looking weak. Fail if you wish. My name is not dave (talk) 18:34, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oops. Sorry; typo. --Paul_012 (talk) 02:40, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- Passed for original hook only. I've thought a bit about this, and while more details would be optimal, the original hook isn't factually inaccurate as it is; I don't see be any reason this wouldn't be DYK-worthy. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:27, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
