Capitol City Plume Superfund site
[edit]- ... that the city of Montgomery, Alabama, resides above a proposed Superfund site?
Created/expanded by Natawhee7 (talk). Self-nominated at 03:26, 16 November 2015 (UTC).
- New enough (expansion on the 10th, nom on the 16th), large enough (a 10x expansion to 8000 characters of prose), neutral, cites sources, no copyright violation concerns ([1]), no image in the nomination, and nominator is exempt from the QPQ. I think that a different hook is needed though, since it's clear that the city took great pains specifically to avoid being labeled a Superfund site. How do you like the ALT below? Mobile Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 05:20, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that the city of Montgomery, Alabama, worked with the Environmental Protection Agency on a plan to clean up the Capitol City Plume so that it wouldn't be declared a superfund site?
- I think the problem with the original hook is the same as with the article itself, as Squirrel Conspiracy notes: how can an article be called "Capitol City Plume Superfund site" if it states unambiguously that Montgomery "managed to keep the site off of the National Priorities list, eliminating the possibility that it could be labeled a superfund site"—assuming this is correct, they kept it from ever being labeled a superfund site, which means the article is misnamed. If it was officially labeled a superfund site at some point, that would justify the article name, but means that the quoted text is inaccurate.
- At this point, the article either needs to be moved to a new common name (I don't know much about the subject, but perhaps "Capitol City Plume"?) or needs to be revised, depending on what the true facts are; at that point, either the original hook or ALT1 can be struck and the nomination proceed. I have posted a request to the nominator's talk page. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:14, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- There has been no action on this nomination, and the person who suggested that Natawhee7 submit this nomination, Ian (Wiki Ed), has not responded to recent requests on Natawhee7's talk page. If no action is taken by the end of January 4 (UTC), this will be closed. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:26, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
- The issues remain after a month and a half, and no action has been taken by nominator or sponsor despite multiple requests here and on talk pages, so this nomination is being marked for closure. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:06, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
