Christianisation of Scotland

[edit]

Improved to Good Article status by Sabrebd (talk). Nominated by Godsy (talk) at 04:38, 10 July 2015 (UTC).

  • A well-written and well-researched article. Nominated within 5 days of receiving GA approval. New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced. As most refs are offline, unable to check for close paraphrasing. No QPQ needed for nominator with less than 5 DYKs. The only problem is that the hook fact does not have an inline cite, per Wikipedia:Did you know#Eligibility criteria #3. The hook fact also appears to be a topic sentence introducing the section, not a verifiable fact, and therefore could be interpreted as OR. I suggest submitting a different hook that is cited inline. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 21:22, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
  • @Sabrebd: Any suggestions for another hook, or a source that can be used to back this one up?Godsy(TALKCONT) 21:58, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
How about "...Iona was the main centre of Christianity in Scotland until in 806, 68 monks were killed in a Viking raid."--SabreBD (talk) 22:28, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I am reformatting your hook as ALT1:
  • ALT1: ... that Iona was the main centre of Christianity in Scotland until 806, when 68 monks were killed in a Viking raid?
  • Now, inline cites are needed for both hook facts. An inline cite should be placed no later than the end of the sentence in which the hook fact appears. The two hook facts are:
    1. Iona was the main centre of Christianity in Scotland until 806
    2. 68 monks were killed in a Viking raid in 806
  • Yoninah (talk) 22:47, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
I think that is fine.--SabreBD (talk) 14:57, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you. And thanks for the inline cite for the second hook fact. What about the first hook fact? Yoninah (talk) 22:34, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
It's the same cite.--SabreBD (talk 08:27, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
  • OK, I added it to the sentence before. We are set! Offline ALT2 refs AGF and cited inline. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 15:04, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
