Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers

that Yoko Taro (pictured) threatened to destroy the servers for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers as part of his Nier: Automata crossover story?Source: [1]

- Comment: Sorry for the length; it's been stewing for a while and I had a lot of sources to incorporate! I'm hoping to get this DYK up on August 11 (a little under 4 weeks from now) to coincide with the release of the next chapter in the story referenced in the hook.
Moved to mainspace by Axem Titanium (talk). Self-nominated at 19:11, 15 July 2020 (UTC).
- Moved from draft, more than long enough, thoroughly cited. A minor issue is that the patchnotes are not clearly cited. Regarding the hook, I think it needs perhaps to mention FFXIV is an MMORPG, and maybe slightly be tweaked to not imply Shadowbringers is a game by itself rather than an expansion. Something like, "destroy the servers of Final Fantasy XVI as part of the Shadowbringers expansion's Nier:Automata crossover story". CMD (talk) 14:15, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Chipmunkdavis Thanks for the review! I've added citations to the Patches section. How about this ALT? Axem Titanium (talk) 17:06, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
ALT1:... that Yoko Taro (pictured) threatened to destroy the servers for Final Fantasy XIV as part of a Nier: Automata crossover story he wrote for Shadowbringers?
- ALT1 is much better. One minor point is that I feel "servers of" is better than "servers for". Is "servers for" common in sources for these topics?
- On sources, the "Notes" column for the patches needs sources. There are a couple, but they don't support the full content. (Also, the prose of this column mixes full sentences with almost bullet point lists, which isn't an issue for DYK but I would suggest standardising it at least for the GAN.) ALT2:... that Yoko Taro (pictured) threatened to destroy the servers of Final Fantasy XIV as part of a Nier: Automata crossover story he wrote for Shadowbringers?
- Chipmunkdavis The style for articles in this series is that the source in the left column provides the citation for the content in the right column with additional references as necessary for things not covered by the main ref (example, which passed GA). I could move the reference to the Notes column but the difference is cosmetic, IMO. The reason the prose in this section is a bit patchy right now is because some of the planned patches haven't been released yet so I'm planning to rewrite them all anyway when they are. - That's my fault, sourcing through the left column is fine, but yesterday I spot-checked and saw just a youtube video. I see the now that for some reason more loads if you hang around on the page long enough. What is the source for the base game (5.0) notes? CMD (talk) 01:22, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- I added one for 5.0! Axem Titanium (talk) 03:24, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Passing ALT2. CMD (talk) 04:17, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! A note/reminder to the closer that I'm requesting this to go on August 11. I've never actually succeeded in requesting a date so I don't know if this is the proper procedure! Axem Titanium (talk) 08:58, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
