Flag of the Bahamas
[edit]- ... that the flag of the Bahamas (pictured) was first hoisted 41 years ago today when the islands were granted independence?
- ALT1:... that the yellow band on the flag of the Bahamas (pictured) represents the golden sand on the islands' beaches?
- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/...Thirteen Years Later
- Comment: Please save for July 10, the Independence Day of the Bahamas. As I've (just) made the 7 day deadline, this version should be used for counting characters.
5x expanded by Bloom6132 (talk). Self nominated at 23:39, 1 July 2014 (UTC).
- QPQ done, I'm not sure if it counts as 5* expansion if content was first removed quite drastically, I'll check up on that. Hoisted for the first time isn't in the source, and, if it was designed in 1850 then it is possible it was used before then. Will continue review after I have got a response from you and whoever I ask about removing content. Thanks, Matty.007 16:19, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry that the article wasn't clear. The British blue ensign flag was the one designed in 1850, while the current flag of the Bahamas – the main focus of the article – was the one designed just before independence and raised on that day. With regards to 5×, the expansion should stand, as I was within the 7 day limit. The other user began expansion with unsourced cruft (to approx. 1481 char.) and I completely revamped it within the 7 days he started and got it up to 3,000+ presently. —Bloom6132 (talk) 16:29, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for my error regarding 1850. Checking with User talk:Crisco 1492 to be sure. The source you gave doesn't explicitly say it was hoisted for the first time, you may be better using the Ency Brit ref 3, which explicitly says "The flag of The Bahamas was officially hoisted on July 10, 1973" to source that it was the first usage. - Sorry, it should have clocked with me that the IP addition was within the 7 days. Article expanded from 598 to 3763, more than 5*. No copyvio in few spotchecks. Neutral, hook sourced, think it's all good to go when you want with original hook (not alt 1, original seems suited for aniversary). Thanks, Matty.007 18:15, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
