International Encyclopedia of Women Composers

[edit]

Created by SL93 (talk). Self-nominated at 06:08, 26 December 2018 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Prefer ALT1 hook valereee (talk) 18:40, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

  • The lead never needs to be referenced because it is just a summary of the article. The quotes are referenced, but just not at the direct end of the quote because they don't need to be. SL93 (talk) 18:46, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Why can't you find the source? It is cited right after the hook at [1]. "The 597-page, $135 compendium of biographies, composition-lists, bibliographies, publications and photographs includes more than 5,000 entries ranging over 44 centuries and nearly 70 countries." SL93 (talk) 19:02, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • I can find that one. It's the 5000 I can't find in that article. valereee (talk) 19:04, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
"The 597-page, $135 compendium of biographies, composition-lists, bibliographies, publications and photographs includes more than 5,000 entries ranging over 44 centuries and nearly 70 countries." SL93 (talk) 19:05, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Still not finding "5000" or "five" in that source -- where in here source does it mention 5000? valereee (talk) 19:08, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
I already quoted it. SL93 (talk) 19:09, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
I know you quoted it. I'm saying that when I read the article it's supposed to have been sourced from, I'm not finding it in the source. valereee (talk) 19:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
The second paragraph. "The 597-page, $135 compendium of biographies, composition-lists, bibliographies, publications and photographs includes more than 5,000 entries ranging over 44 centuries and nearly 70 countries. Mr. Cohen, a 76-year-old retired town planner in Johannesburg, South Africa, spent eight years researching the book, which is meant to fill a significant gap in the history of music. The effort, he writes, was to be liberal and inclusive rather than discriminating. SL93 (talk) 19:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Oh, it was the comma lol! hahahahaha 19:13, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Can you recheck the adequate sourcing criterion? The lead doesn't need to be referenced and the quotes are sourced at the following references. SL93 (talk) 19:15, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Okay per hooks, I prefer alt 1. Re: lede and direct quotes being sourced -- I agree, they don't NEED to be. If it were just an article, I wouldn't question it. And I'm happy to pass it without. But I've seen (experienced) having an article pulled out of prep for that. Your call. valereee (talk) 19:17, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • I will keep it as it is. None of the leads in my DYK hooks have been referenced and I have been submitting DYKs for several years. SL93 (talk) 19:20, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Good to go. Great article! valereee (talk) 19:21, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
