Julius Berger (cellist)

[edit]

Created by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 20:42, 16 May 2018 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: All good and ready to go. I considered the inclusion of John Cage in the hook as a possibly more well-known figure, but it's also nice to highlight others. violet/riga [talk] 21:17, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't see an inline cite for the hook fact about Luigi Boccherini. Yoninah (talk) 20:43, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
I doubled one, and also found this, to be added but not right now, - high holidays for two days again. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:48, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you, but these cites are for the fact that he's rediscovering Boccherini's music, not recording. That fact is mentioned below, under Recordings. Personally, I think you should add Cage to the hook and write it this way:
  • ALT1: ... that the cellist Julius Berger, who became a professor at age 28, has recorded works by contemporary composers John Cage and Sofia Gubaidulina? Yoninah (talk) 21:14, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
His forte is versatility, not stressed by mentioning 2 from the same period, and I want a woman, please, also a composer from the RMF list. Will look into the recordings, but not now, still holiday. I also want to mention Boccherini in honour of Cassianto. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:12, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
I made the external link (review) to a reference, and added a sentence about recording the concertos. Adjusted:
ALT1: ... that the cellist Julius Berger, who was a professor at age 28, recorded the twelve concertos by Luigi Boccherini, and works by Sofia Gubaidulina? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:32, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I think you can sharpen the hook a lot more, like this:
  • ALT2: ... that the German cellist Julius Berger recorded all twelve concertos by Luigi Boccherini on the Classical composer's own Stradivari instrument? Yoninah (talk) 20:53, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I expected that to come. I would prefer the versatility + the woman, but will not fight. Striking "Classical", as not "sharp". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:28, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I know you like putting a lot of names and details in a hook, but I suspect ALT2 will attract more hits... New review needed for ALT2. Pinging @Violetriga: Yoninah (talk) 10:28, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
