@Chris troutman: This needs a full review, but I've struck ALT1 because it's not supported by the reference in the article, which also needs to be amended. I'd suggest ALT4:

  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I really like the quirkiness of ALT2, and tweaked it slightly. ALT2 hook refs verified and cited inline. ALT1/ALT4 is all right, but the article doesn't mention that Ruth Allen was a plant pathologist. If you wish to use that hook, please mention it and cite it inline. • @Relentlessly: you added the fact that she's a plant pathologist, but didn't reference it. This would generally be a minor issue, but since the hook is saying the award is named after her and she was a plant pathologist, this connection needs to be cited. Even her article doesn't reference the fact that she's a plant pathologist. Yoninah (talk) 21:57, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
  • OK. The cite says it without "saying" it (kind of like what we do to avoid close paraphrasing) :) ALT4 hook ref verified and cited inline. Both ALT2 and ALT4 are good to go. Yoninah (talk) 22:21, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
