Out of the Grey (The Dream Syndicate album), Ghost Stories (Dream Syndicate album)

[edit]

Created/expanded by Drmies (talk), Walter Görlitz (talk). Nominated by Drmies (talk) at 03:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC).

  • It's in the main article; I'll stick it in the lead. It's not the greatest of verification but it's difficult to challenge it since there's videos of the show, and tourdates etc. Thanks--I hadn't updated that lead yet. Drmies (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Well, Walter apparently challenged my hijacking of the previous version of the article, back when it was called Out of the Grey (album) (it was nothing but a tracklist for the debut album of the band Out of the Grey), and so the poor guy was forced to rename the new version of the old article, reinstate the old article under a new name with a reference so its existence couldn't be challenged, and make a dab page out of the old article. It's a friendly jab, if you will. He's a nice albeit somewhat overeager and sometimes short-fused editor. Kinda like me. Drmies (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • No, but the template creation doesn't allow for such niceties. Does it matter? Scrap him if you must. Drmies (talk) 18:10, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • I got all that through JSTOR, the LA Times and Chicago Tribune articles. Drmies (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • The main body of Ghost should provide a date for the completion of the Out of the Grey album. It is mentioned in the WP:LEAD, which is suppose to summarize the main body.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:26, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • There is no point in the main body of Ghost when you say when the album was released. We just know it was after January 1988.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:35, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • I'll see what I can do about that, but it may not be much: 1988 is the date on the CD (I'm looking at it), and it's in the infobox. Drmies (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Now it's in the lead, the background section, the infobox. Drmies (talk) 18:15, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • That entire paragraph in Ghost Stories for the final breakup is verified by the same source. I could copy that references and paste it at the end of every sentence to comply with DYK rules, but it would look terrible. Yes, it's all offline for those without access (can't link to the Trib like I could for JSTOR, unfortunately) and I appreciate the GF--I think you can imagine how much time it took me to hunt down all that newspaper coverage. BTW, Tony, I love Chicago, if for the Tribune alone--they really cover stuff. Drmies (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • They aren't dated in the sources except for in the general "after the album" and "before the next album". Drmies (talk) 19:11, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • As above on the breakups. In addition, AGF on release date of Out of the Grey in the Out of the Grey article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:48, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Well, ditto. The articles are as detailed as the sources allow. The only certain date is the final 1989 breakup (well, final until 2012). Drmies (talk) 19:11, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Where is the icon indicating the result of this review? Is the nomination approved for DYK or not? BlueMoonset (talk) 17:27, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Tony, please have another look to see if I've addressed all your issues. Thanks for your thorough review which has improved both articles. Drmies (talk) 15:29, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
  • The above issues are addressed as much as they could be. There are dates all over the articles, as many as the sources allow. The release dates for the records are in there, as are the breakups before and after Out of the Grey and again after Ghost Stories. and so is the 2012 comeback. Drmies (talk) 19:11, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Everything looks O.K now.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:48, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
