Rosa Namises

[edit]
  • ... that Rosa Namises is also known as the Rosa Luxemburg of Namibia? The lifelong urge 'to do something' first got her into the independence struggle, and later into jail and into parliament. It also gave her a nickname: Rosa Luxemburg of Namibia.

5x expanded by Pgallert (talk). Self-nominated at 10:58, 24 September 2016 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: 5x expansion within newness parameters confirmed (when removal of copyvio is taken into account) and QPQ done. While it would be nice to see the hook in the body of the article (instead of just the lead) and I think that the fact about her losing her job over holding hands with a white doctor is more "hooky", the current hook is accepted in good faith from a foreign language source and is of an appropriate length. No evidence of plagiarism, although I note that neither of the English-language references worked for me (and archival services seem to be down at the moment). Since they are therefore treated like offline sources, good faith is assumed. Canadian Paul 17:19, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

  • @Canadian Paul: your alt idea is going to draw far more hooks than the original suggestion:
  • ALT1: ... that in 1985 Rosa Namises lost her job in a Namibian hospital after she was seen holding hands in public with a white doctor?
  • However, it's unclear in the article which hospital is being talked about, and I can't find anything about the subject or the year in the German source given. Yoninah (talk) 23:36, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
    • Good idea, didn't think about such a hook. Now we just need someone who can approve it... ;) --Pgallert (talk) 17:37, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
  • @Pgallert: if you like ALT1, please tell us where this information appears in the German-language source. I don't see anything in the source about 1985. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 18:41, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Oh, sorry, @Yoninah:, I should have made that clear. When she falls in love with a white doctor and strolls with him hand in hand in Windhoek, she has crossed the last line. He is being transferred, she gets fired, and she becomes a freedom fighter.) --Pgallert (talk) 11:25, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
* Thank you. ALT1 is ready for review. Yoninah (talk) 16:51, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Can't remember if I'm allowed/supposed to be the one reviewing ALT1 but, if I am, then ALT1 meets the formatting and content guidelines by my analysis, as it is short enough, interesting, neutral, and cited (assuming good faith for a foreign language I am not familiar with) in the article. If I'm not supposed to be doing this, anyone can feel free to strike/ignore this. Canadian Paul 13:20, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
  • @Canadian Paul: Well, since you suggested the wording, another reviewer should review this (see Rule H2). Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 18:13, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Giving formal approval to ALT1, the hook facts being cited inline to a German language source. Otherwise relying on Canadian Paul's review. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:43, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
