Thor Heyerdahl Upper Secondary School
[edit]- ... that Thor Heyerdahl Upper Secondary School (pictured) was split between several locations until 2009?

- Well, that's a quality article. Long enough, new enough. My Norvegian is a bit rusty so I will simply AGF the references, having good faith in Yngvadottir. But there is one sentence in there that needs an explanation, and could it be that the name in the infobox can be italicized, consistent with the rest of the article? Also, it seems to me that the language issue (ie, high rate of "furriners", however you want to call them) is interesting enough to be mentioned in the lead. Does the school have a relatively high percentage of non-native Norvegian speakers, compared to other schools? Was this a factor in its design? That's worth mentioning.
Finally, the hook is, well, how do I say this gently, lame. Very lame. And it's a pretty exciting school, from the sound of it--perhaps the "foreign" background of many students can make for a good hook, or the architectural design, or its cost (is that not a lot of money?), or Operation Peru... Surely we can come up with something more exciting! Drmies (talk) 23:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

- Fine article - suggested hook below. Constructive assistance welcome Victuallers (talk) 10:28, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- (alt1)... that a former student at a Norwegian secondary school (pictured) arranged funding for a Peruvian orphanage?
- Hmm, yes, sure--that also doesn't blow me away; sorry Victuallers. Yngvadottir, any ideas? Mentoz86, want to weigh in? Drmies (talk) 16:40, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'd had a look at this when it was first nominated but abandoned reviewing because, well, yes, the hook didn't grab me. The thing that stuck in my mind was the use of tents (I may be biased having been at this event a number of years ago though!). Is it usual to use tents like this in Norway? I'm also at a disadvantage because I'm having to rely on Google translate - never a good idea! Just a rough suggestion so I'm not marking it as an ALT but something like: ... that some lessons at the Thor Heyerdahl Upper Secondary School took place in a tent while new buildings were being constructed? SagaciousPhil - Chat 09:24, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- ALT2 ... that students of a Norwegian secondary school (pictured) named for Thor Heyerdahl run service projects for Peru and funded an orphanage there?
- Is all that verified in the sources? It deviates slightly from the article section. Drmies (talk) 14:11, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
Take this one as catch->
- ALT3 ... that the school (pictured) named for the explorer Thor Heyerdahl is a project by schmidt hammer lassen architects, a Danish international architectural team of high-profile cultural buildings?
- Add as a per comment on Drmies talk page. (Wish I could make that page start with schmidt and not Schmidt; it just goes on as a majusc, automatically, if the page is moved.) Hafspajen (talk) 16:17, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- Okay (after severe headache caused by Google translate gibberish) - for Drmies suggestion, which I've just marked as ALT2 - the second part appears to be supported by ref #16 but will need a bit of jiggery pokery because for DYK rules we need an inline cite immediately beside the sentence. To this end I have just destroyed Yngvadottir's lovely punctuation and wonderful prose by changing a period to a semi colon and I've also stuck ref#1 in that paragraph as well. The only bit I need a ref for is where it says in the lead
"... named for the explorer Thor Heyerdahl ..."
. I'll leave a note on Yngvadottir's talk page just in case I haven't already annoyed him enough! SagaciousPhil - Chat 17:00, 19 January 2014 (UTC) - NOTE: I just did some minor formatting on Hafspajen's suggested ALT3 and re-inserted the quote in my comment above. - It looks as if ALT2 is not going to work as I've been advised it might be best to avoid using the charity in the hook; I'll drop a note on Drmies talk page and I'll give some more thought to Hafspajen's suggestion for ALT3, which may need some re-jigging. In the meantime, noting that the image is PD, so no problems with that. SagaciousPhil - Chat 06:54, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for not paying attention to this discussion, I've been a little busy lately. @Hafspajen - I've added a {{lowercase title}} to schmidt hammer lassen architects, that should do the job. ALT3 looks good to me, even though the most interesting hook I've seen is the one that was suggested at Drmies' talk-page. But we don't have an inline citation that supports that "Fatu Hiva" means "the nine parts of the roof" in Marquesan, so that one cannot be used? Mentoz (talk) 09:37, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mentoz! If we can find a reference for it and add both the information (it's not in at the article at present) and the ref into the article, we can then have a look at it. SagaciousPhil - Chat 10:16, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Alt4 - ... that a Norwegian school (pictured) was named for Thor and built by a hammer? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:04, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

- I like ALT4 - and it is covered by ref#1 so isn't a problem. If Drmies doesn't find this one tame and Mentoz86 is also happy I think we've then got all the DYK criteria covered and would be able to give this a green tick as the relevant ref isn't in Norwegian.
