Wildlife of Turkmenistan

[edit]

Created by Cwmhiraeth (talk) and Hanberke (talk). Nominated by Cwmhiraeth (talk) at 19:37, 3 August 2017 (UTC).

  • New enough (moved to article space on August 1, nominated on August 3), long enough. QPQ done. No cleanup tags or obvious problems (structure, neutrality, stability). Inline references used throughout, no unreferenced paragraphs. All images sourced to Commons, including the one above. Could not detect copyright problems or close paraphrasing. To be continued... • Both hooks are well-formed are short enough. However, the main hook needs to be supported by an inline citation right after it in the text per WP:DYKDN #1. ALT1 is fine: is supported by an inline citation, image is freely licensed and appears in the article. (On a side note: I'm getting a 404 on "Flora and fauna". Natural Geography of Turkmenistan. Retrieved 30 July 2017.) GregorB (talk) 12:03, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
I have added some extra citations to the dead source for the hook facts. It's a pity about the "Natural Geography of Turkmenistan" site, which was a useful source. @Hanberke: Are you able to find it, if it has moved, or find an alternative source? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:55, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: I think, this might be the same material.Hanberke (talk) 18:35, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. The original source seems to have been rewritten but contains much of the same information. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:41, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. My understanding is that AGF applies to dead links, but let's wait, maybe it can still be fixed.
BTW, while the ALT1 image is fine, it is not too exciting, and the same unfortunately applies to the hooks themselves, even if I still believe they are OK on the whole. I wish there was a way to work that leopard or cobra into a hook, but it's probably hard to do it without introducing low-level, off-topic details in the text. I think the original hook is interesting because it illustrates that the country is hot and dry, which suits reptiles but not amphibians. I like the ALT hook because it shows that even the most inhospitable desert supports its own sort of life. However, I am open to other hook suggestions. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:41, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
Both hooks are OK now, good to go! GregorB (talk) 18:34, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
