Yurie Funato
- ... that Yurie Funato was inspired to become a voice actress partly from seeing the scripts and voice acting videos of her narrator mother? Source: [1] ("親が声優やナレーションの仕事をしていたので、家に台本や、出演したアニメのビデオがあったりして、声優という仕事が身近な存在だったんです。")
- ALT1: ... that voice actress Yurie Funato was a member of her high school's cheerleading club, which won a gold medal at a competition? Source: Same as the above. ("船戸 高校にダンス部がなくて、チア部しかなかったんです。野球部の応援などの活動をしていました。成績優秀なチア部で、関東大会で金賞を獲ったこともあります。")
- ALT2: ... that prior to starting her voice acting career, Yurie Funato worked part-time at a sushi chain? Source: [2]

- Comment: I'm not really confident about any of the hooks so I'm willing to withdraw this if all of them are determined to be uninteresting. Additional suggestions or hook rewordings are welcome. I understand that YouTube isn't the best source for ALT2, but it's the official YouTube channel of her agency and she herself is the one speaking there, so it might be allowed per WP:SPS and for being noncontentious.

- Review:
- Article was created on the 23rd and nominated the same day
- Article is at 1,919 characters of prose, surpassing the 1,500 requirement
- Can't confirm that sources back up all claims, as I am not fluent in Japanese. Assuming good faith
- Earwig tells me "Violation Unlikely", at 2.9%
- Article doesn't have any tags; it is presentable
- Assuming good faith that the hooks are backed up by the sources. Google Translate backs up ALT0 but only partially backs up ALT1, but I'll chalk it up to something lost in translation.
- None of the hooks really dazzle me.
- No images, so no copyright issues there
- QPQ has been done
- Would recommend linking Saitama Prefecture
- Everything checks out, except for "hookiness". I'll give you a little longer to think of something or find a WP:RS that states something interesting about her. Bremps... 00:32, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Bremps: Thanks for the feedback. I've largely based the article on her Japanese Wikipedia article, which has some more information about her. You can probably take a look at the Japanese page and see if there's anything suitable there. Maybe there's something there that can be used as a hook? If not, I could ask for a second opinion on the hookiness of the hooks, and if they don't work out, I'm fine with this being failed. To be honest I had doubts about their hookiness myself, the proposals were just the best options that came to mind. I don't know if this is proper, but would a hook about her quitting her idol career due to a leg injury be a possible hook, or would that be a BLP violation? - Your suggestion is fine, but I don't see anything about her quitting her idol career because of the leg injury in the article. It just states that she left Purely Monster and Holy Peak. If you could incorporate that as a cited fact in the article, we can move forward.
- Also, I noticed that four of the nine sources are from a single news agency (Anime News Network) and one is her entertainment agency. Looking at the Japanese version, she looks pretty notable, but we need more sources in the English version to also establish that on the English Wikipedia. Cheers, Bremps... 03:45, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Contrary to popular belief, while English sources are preferred on the English Wikipedia, they aren't mandatory, and non-English sources are just as valid as English ones for the purpose of establishing notability and sourcing. English coverage of Japanese voice actors tends to be lacking with ANN and to a lesser extent Crunchyroll News being the only English sources that discuss them in detail, so most coverage is really going to be on the Japanese side. - That is not what I meant. I meant that the Japanese article has plenty of sources which firmly establish the subject as notable, but the English one is a little lacking in that department (because four of the nine sources in the article come from the same news channel). I meant it as in "may you add in a few sources copied from the Japanese article". Cheers, Bremps... 04:13, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oh I see. So you mean I should add some additional Japanese sources in addition to the ANN links? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:13, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

- @Bremps: Premeditated Chaos and Vaticidalprophet also suggested over Discord the following angle. How do the following sound?
- ALT3 ... that schoolmates used to make fun of voice actress Yurie Funato for her high-pitched voice? (this is PMC's suggestion)
- ALT3a ... that Yurie Funato's voice was made fun of by her schoolmates, but she later became a voice actress?
- ALT3b ... that Yurie Funato, a voice actress and former singer, was bullied in high school for her high-pitched voice? (this is VP's suggestion)
- I have also added a non-ANN source to some of the other statements, in this case the sources used in the Japanese article. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 05:05, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- I like 3b better than my own, actually. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 05:25, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Much better. The Google Translated version of the source seems to back up the hook's claim, so I can pass this review. I'll leave the choice of hook (3, 3a, or 3b) up to the promoter. Bremps... 13:27, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would personally prefer ALT3b as having the best wording and the least ambiguity (for example, ALT3's wording is ambiguous if she was already a voice actress when in school or not, when it's clear she only became a VA after graduating). - @Narutolovehinata5, Premeditated Chaos, and Bremps: I am promoting ALT3b based on checks. It is sourced to an interview - in Japanese. I do not think it runs afoul of the "unduly self-serving" component of WP:ABOUTSELF. Bruxton (talk) 18:44, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
