Additions

[edit]

Wondering whether sin bins and sendings off should be possible to note on this. Also man of the match field for women's games. I've had a look but so far been unable to find whether women's rugby league uses 'woman of the match' or 'most valuable player' etc. I think the term 'man of the match' needs to be retained for men's games. LunarLander // talk // 10:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC) Also, a referee2 field should be added for matches using two referees - as in the NRL currently. Video referees play a highly visible and important role in matches in which they participate too. LunarLander // talk // 16:27, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I like how the collapsible version has the 'stadium' paramater in addition to the 'location' parameter. Can this one have that too?--Jeff79 (talk) 02:01, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

There needs to be some consistency around rugby league match templates going forward. I've noticed that different competitions and matches have different formatting around how they are structed with try and goal scorers which is confusing on how what to do on newer. Below are some examples I've seen.

I understand there's bigger fish to fry, but it would be nice to have some consistency with how we do this going forward; whether the template needs restructuring for aspects such as half time scores, sin bins, send offs, try time stamps etc. I know not all matches, such as some lower tiered international matches don't have extensive match reports that have this stuff so maybe there could be better way to show this. Let me know what everyone thinks

Two POTM parameters

[edit]

@Storm machine why introduce a second potm parameter (|potmwinner=)? A bit of reordering allows the existing parameter (|manofmatch=) to be used - see my diffs in {{rugbyleaguebox/sandbox}}. If though you want to find all existing uses of (|manofmatch=) and replace them with |potmwinner=, then |manofmatch could be removed from the template altogether. This would make the template gender neutral going forward. Nthep (talk) 13:32, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Happy with your method there in the sandbox. Was just trying not to break the template while making the adjustment to any named POTM award in the instances where the template has been used, but editors have been avoiding the existing MOTM parameter. Storm machine (talk) 21:22, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ Nthep Was this ever amended? |potmaward= seems like a good addition to the template, but one small suggestion I would make is removing the boldface automatically applied to the award name. J Mo 101 (talk) 15:37, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@J Mo 101 No it wasn't amended .|potmaward= can already be used but you have to use it in conjunction with |potmwinner=. The discussion we never had was on whether to go through and replace all existing uses of |manofmatch= with |potmwinner= which allows us to remove |manofmatch= altogether. Nthep (talk) 16:52, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
if we want to go down the line of eliminating |manofmatch= there are currently about 870 transclusions of this template, not all of which are going to use that parameter. That sounds like enough to request a bot task to find and make the changes. Nthep (talk) 14:25, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
