Vancouver

[edit]

Can someone bold "Vancouver" because it should be bolded, and I don't know how to bold it. boldblazer (talk) 06:38, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vancouver to Kaloomps

[edit]

The Canadian runs two separate routes between Vancouver and Kaloomps and currently only the westbound stations are shown. This should be updated to reflect the eastbound stations as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 40.128.74.1 (talk) 15:46, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Passing stops vs. full stops

[edit]

Hi, I was looking at making this template more accurate by distinguishing the passing stops ("42" on the VIA timetable) vs. the full stops. However, it seems like adding the "p" modifier breaks the code at Foleyet and the eastbound-only sections between Vancouver and Kamloops North. Any ideas? Concept below. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 18:17, 20 December 2020 (UTC) [reply]

This is a route-map template for the the Canadian.

Former routing

[edit]

@Cards84664: Thank you for your contributions. I must say, however, that these additions have taken an already-long template and made it even longer, to the point of it being almost unreadable. The former routing of the Canadian is already well explained in the article itself. Such templates should be short and easily read - the history lesson can be in the body of the article, wouldn't you agree? 162 etc. (talk) 16:33, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'd argue that we could make the template even better by hiding the sections between major stops. I've mocked it up below (not too sure why it results in the line being indented, I'm not very familiar with the markup, but you get the idea.) 162 etc. (talk) 16:56, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I oppose such a removal due to a lack of context, as unfamiliar readers would not be aware of differences between track and service, or where the two overlap (i.e. Portage la Prairie) but I do agree that collapsible sections would be useful, and I will work on their implementation. Cards84664 05:50, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Boldly implemented the collapsible sections. Discussion welcome. 162 etc. (talk) 20:52, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
