Rabindranath Tagore University, which was previously known as Hojai college is a prestigious Knowledge and education Hub of Hojai and Karbi Anglong district. This College is recognised under UGC.[citation needed]
History
[edit]The need of an institution for higher education at Hojai was in fact, felt during early 1960's. The pioneers of this noble task of establishing a college at Hojai, once the granary of Assam, had to face insurmountable hurdles on several fronts: It was but for the relentless and untiring efforts of a band of dedicated workers and the patronisation of all concerned that this Alma Mater could come into being in 1964 with only 126 students in P.U. (ARTS)
On 26 July 2016, Assam's Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Sarbananda Sanowal proposed that a university be set up in Hojai and named after Rabindranath Tagore.[1]

Library
[edit]The Central Library of the college maintains a good repository of text and reference books numbering approximately more than 35,000. The Library subscribes a large number of dailies, weeklies, Journals and periodicals.[2]
National Service Scheme

Cell for the Differently Abled
[edit]A cell for the differently abled exists in the college to help students who are Physically challenged in Providing academic and other assistance as and when needed. Differently abled students may contact coordinator of the Cell to get themselve registered.

Bharat Scout and Guide
[edit]The Bharat Scouts and Guides There is a programme of Rover & Ranger (Scouts & Guide) team of our institution, interested students may enrol themselves in these teams. Interested students may contact Dr. A. Kataky, and Dr, C Basumata, Department of Zoology to get themselves enrolled.
