Road signs in Faroe Islands
[edit]Most of the depictions on road signs, of people, animals and vehicle on roadsigns, are, realistic (as opposed to stylized) silhouettes.
Legal basis
[edit]The primary law is the Road Traffic Act of Faroe Islands. [fn 1] While the Road Traffic act has changed more frequently, the Executive Order on Road Signs has not changed since 1980, apart from 4 signs introduced in year 2006.
Denmark signed the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals on November 8, 1968 and ratified it on November 3, 1986. A note to the ratification states "until further notice the [Convention] shall not apply to the Faroe Islands and Greenland" .[1]
