Reto 4 Elementos is a mexican competition reality show, produced by TelevisaUnivision and broadcasted by Canal 5.It was performed in March 19th 2018, having as host the announcer Montserrat Oliver, with Yavidan Valai and Rafael Basaldúa "Bazooka Joe" as the commentators. At the beginning it had 32 participants, divided into 8 teams of 4. The contestants must compete in many physical and mental testing circuits so only one can win the jackpot. The reality was recorded in the Rivera Maya beaches.


In may 31st, 2018, the second season of the reality show was confirmed through media. In december 14th, 2018, the third season of the reality show for 2019 was confirmed through an interview made to Montserrat Oliver, which was released in june 2022 and totally in Colombian beaches.


The program is described with a survival concept, physical and mental testing where 32 participants divided in 8 teams of four face each team where they have to face each team in "random" mode where the winners get the privilege of going to the small village, and those who lose have to go to the underworld, to wait one week till the new loser team arrives so they can face each other till 1 or 2 members of both teams be eliminated.

Production

Under the leadership of Montserrat Oliver, more than 200 people in production and technical team from Argentina, 32 celebrities participate in competition. Contestants are divided in eight teams, according to their professional profile. Clues are in Rivera Maya, Quintana Roo, where the stage is set where they will challenge nature.

Before realising the tv program in Rivera Maya, the director (Frank Scheuermann) told that the idea from the beginning was to make the show in the destinations of the country. "We arrived here (Rivera Maya) in a scouting of location like four months ago. Making this in Mexico was important to us. We choose this place which I thought was perfect, there is an amount of things which don't exist elsewhere like the cenotes, beaches and the thousand-colors water he said.

“Bringing shows in mexican version like Ninja Warrior is of the utmost importance. We'll be on air in four months, with more than 200 tests. In january, we'll begin pre-production and we are still developping some dynamics. This is a really great project. This is not a survival program like it was thought to be" said Frank Scheuermann, training formats director of Televisa and responsible of this project.

Plus, Yavidan y Bazooka Joe were commenting competitions in the first season. In Reto 4 Elementos: La Búsqueda, Montserrat Oliver, Yavidan and Bazooka continued respectively as presenter and commentator. Pedro Prieto y Yurem Rojas, who were participants in the first season, joined as co-conductors. Also, one of the finalists from the previous season, Memo Corral, was advisor of the participants.

Cristian de la Fuente joined to Monserrat to be presenters of the second season, Yavidan and Bazooka continued as comentators, and Yurem Rojas would be the new digital presenter. At the end of the second season, a special of Teletón (México) was trasmitted, in which participants from both seasons face for a special cause. It was presented by Monserrat Oliver and Cristián de la Fuente.

In 2022, for the third season of the show, Adrián Di Monte joined to Oliver in hosting, whereas Yavidan and Bazooka continued as commentators; moreover, José Figueroa would be in charge of being the new digital presenter.

First season

In the first season of the reality show, competition took place in Rivera Maya, where 32 celebrities faced each other to be the winner. In their first episodes, there were eight teams formed by four elements each one, these were: The Actors, The Models,The Renewed, The Wrestlers, The Fitness, The Comedians, The Announcers and The Sportsman, besides the ones called "Challengers" with their starting teams, they faced the called "México challenge" against a team in risk of elimination to contest individually for a position in an official team.

In March 14th, 2020, a shortened version of the season was broadcasted in Canal 5, in which the first five episodes of the season weren't shown up, transmitting episode six as the first episode; leaving out the takes in which the Wrestlers and Sportsmen teams appeared, in which Fernanda López from the fitness team appeared. She was totally replaced in its original transmission, eliminating them also from the official posts of the teams by social networks.

Second season

On May 31, the second season of the reality show was confirmed through the official account of the program in Instagram. The casting was carried out during the mont of june . The second season of the reality show was announced on july 15, 2018, the date of the final chapter of the first season. Rumbo a reto 4 elementos, the casting special of second season will be transmitted from july 22; this was made public in the TV program Hoy in july 16. The season will be formed by groups of celebrities and participants of the national casting annnounced in june.

In july 2, it was announced that Cristián de la Fuente would be the presenter of the second season together with Montserrat, Yurem Rojas would be the new digital presenter. Through the official Instagram account, the release date was moved to august 13 for the second season. Under the motto: "Nothing will be the same".

The dynamic would be the same than the previous season, but with a new place in the middle of "The village" and "The underworld", called "The Purgatory", place where the loser team would have to go through, if they won the purgatory challenge, they would go to the underworld, or else they should stay in the purgatory.

It was confirmed the prticipation of Elite Team of the first season, formed by Gabriel Pontones "El Rasta", Mónica Gómez, Estefanía Ahumada y Guillermo "Memo" Corral, for the episode 10 of the first season.

Third season

The third season is confirmed to be released on june 27, 2022, totally recorded in Guajira, Colombia. The famous contestants are: the TV hosts Juan José Ulloa, Melina Dionyssiou, Caro Weigend and Chano Jurado; the comedians Sergio Ochoa, Ceci Flores, Archie Balardi and Mariazel; the influencers Rodel Wapayaso, Inna Moll, Elaine Haro and Alexis Omman; the fitness experts are Nicola Porcella, Ana Corral, María José Suárez and Christian Anoceto; the models Erick Bolívar, Ingrid Aver, Mariana Bayón and Daniel Geithner; and the actors Carlos Farrera, Susy Lú, Haydee Navarra and Raúl Coronado, accounting on Oliver as hostess and Adrián Di Monte, there will also be «the village lion», a supercontestant who will challenge the famous participants before the knockout round. Those able to defeat him/her will receive special benefits. The competence will account with two winners for the first time: one male and one female master of the elements.[17][18] Paulette Gallardo, participant and finalist of the second season, had an appereance as the challenger of the lion challenge as well. Likewise, Gabriel Pontones, the first season winner, was into the production of this season.

During cycle 6 in phase 3, Lambda García had a participation as the "Fifth element", taking a place in the Fitness team and Nicola Porcella in the Comedians team by decision of the US team.

During cycle 13 in phase 5, when Mariana Bayón quit the competition in the previous cycle, the female elementos left: Inna Moll, Addy Castro, Carolina Weinged and Cecilia Flores, automatically passed to the female semifinal, nonetheless, male elements should keep competing for thei position in the male semifinal being helped by their duo, except for Ricky Hernandez who competed individually.
