Song |
"Song of the Lonely Mountain" is a song from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey composed New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn. It is originally a song in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit book, in which the dwarven company sing it in the presence of Bilbo Baggins.
It exists in two versions: "Song of the Lonely Mountain", the end-credit song of the film performed by Finn with lyrics he wrote himself, and "Misty Mountains", performed inside the film himself as in the original book, with the cast led by Richard Armitage performing the song with the lyrics originally written by Tolkien.

Misty Mountains
[edit]A song named Misty Mountains is sung by Richard Armitage and The dwarven company in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The song, performed by Armitage, The dwarven cast and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, was taken from Tolkien's novel The Hobbit and replicated in the film. The song also appears on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey film soundtrack. As Tolkien left no title for the song, Misty Mountains is sometimes referred to as "The Dwarf Song", "Thorin's Song" or "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold". In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey there are several changes from Tolkien's original work, with some of the songs lyric. The song is crafted into Thorin and company main musical theme. The music of the films is conducted and composed by Howard Shore.
