The Head Of The Fish Regatta is a rowing race held on the last weekend of October each year on Fish Creek, within Saratoga County, New York State. The race is named the "Head" of the Fish because it is a head race.
The event is hosted by the Saratoga Rowing Association.[3] The race is organized by volunteers.[4] Tom Frost founded the regatta in 1986.[5] The original vision for the regatta was one "that wouldn't take itself too seriously."[5] Protests were forbidden and "timing errors were considered part of the regatta's charm."[5] Winners are awarded lacquered fish heads.[5]

The course stretches 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from the start to the finish at Boathouse Row and contains four bridges in total, which appear in this order from the start:
There is a dangerous waterfall less than 300 meters from the finish line across from Boathouse Row.[1] The 13-foot Fairmount Water Works Dam stretches 400 meters across the Schuylkill.[1]
The dam is difficult for coxswains to see because it is so wide.[1] A rowing shell caught broadside beyond the safety cable would easily be swept over the falls.[1]
