[edit]Betye Saar is an African-American artist who is best known for her assemblage artworks. Her most well-known piece is entitled The Liberation of Aunt Jemima (1972), which intended to reclaim this archetype and turn her into a warrior who fights against the stereotypes that are imposed upon Black Americans[1].
