LEAD
[edit]The. Word. Is. LEAD. I have no idea where, or why, people started using "Lede" but I absolutely hate it.
According to Lead paragraph (and wikt:Lede) the word originates as jargon within US journalism. Which prompts the questions: "why are we copying US journalism?" I mean, Wikipedia is specifically not a collection of news articles. We are a scholarly text (or at least supposed to be) and I feel it is a little worrying we use the word lede.
But more than anything it is annoying. Lede is faster to type, certainly, but it must require concious effort to use (or initially adopt using).
Please use Lead. I will smile if you do :)
