Well, here I am; my first essay into Wikipedia. My reasons for opening an account are varied: For myself I hope and expect to get a lot of satisfaction and fulfillment; mostly I think that Wikipedia is a solid and worthwhile entity and desrves to be supported; I hope to serve the idea of Wikipedia; lastly, but by no means least, I hope and expect to learn from those who are more knowledgeable and more experienced than I am.

Wikipedia is not, I think, a place to flaunt one's personality; and hopefully, what and who I am will be judged by what I write and how I interact with the Wiki-community at large. However, if you are reading this user page, then you have a right to some basic personal information about me . . .

I am an English, middle-aged/late middle-aged male. Tolerably intelligent, my educational background is mainly in philosophy (the art of straight thinking), and applied psychology; but I also picked up a little science along the way. I live with my wife, our cat, and my books. That's probably all you need to know.

I am open to correction and sincerely hope that any or all of you will do just that as, and when, you feel that I need it.
