HMS Enchantress was a steam yacht operated by the Royal Navy for the use of the Admiralty Board. The yacht was used a means of allowing members of the Board, in particular the First Lord of the Admiralty, who was the government minister in charge of the Royal Navy, to travel quickly to ports and stations to allow direct viewing and inspection of facilities and personnel. In time of war, the yacht was intended for conversion into a hospital ship.
