Hi, I am Himalayacetus, or Richard Mally in real life. I am an entomologist working primarily on Lepidoptera, where I am interested in phylogenetics, systematics, nomenclature, biogeography and invasive species.
I mostly work on articles concerning Pyraloidea, and especially the species-rich subfamily Spilomelinae. My main aim is to fill the many (many!) stub articles in the group of snout moths (the common name of Pyraloidea) with information and by that making them more useful to the general public.
My next big task is to update the higher systematics of Spilomelinae and Pyraustinae to reflect the latest scientific findings. That includes creating pages for the recently proposed tribes of these two subfamilies (for a cladogram illustrating the currently proposed relationships among Spilomelinae tribes, see Spilomelinae systematics), and filling those new pages with more info than just a list of genera. The following is a list of the tribes, arranged roughly in phylogenetic order:
Spilomelinae: Done
- Hydririni Done
- Lineodini Done
- Udeini Done
- Wurthiini Done
- Steniini Done
- Trichaeini Done
- Portentomorphini Done
