- I am a teacher in the Buncombe_County_Schools_System
- I was formerly a Database Analyst with the Mountain Area Health Education Center
- In 2002 Co-Presented Health Disparities in an Appalachian County with Dr. Thomas Plaut, at the Appalachian Studies Conference, in Helen, Georgia.
- Prior to MAHEC, I was a Community Planner and GIS Specialist with the North Carolina Division of Community Assistance
- While at NCDCA I spent two semesters as an adjunct teaching GIS at UNCA
- In the summers I taught at Mars Hill College Upward Bound

- Attended Appalachian State University in Boone, Graduating in 1991 with a degree in Community and Regional Planning with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems and a minor in Geography
- Later attended UNC - Asheville for a Post Baccalaureate Teaching Certification
- Later attended East Carolina University Greeneville, NC Llcensure for instructional technology specialist computers (077 license)
- Currently enrolled in the New Media and Global Studies program at Appalachian State University
