User:Joshua's Number9

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, my username is Joshua's_Number9, and I joined in October 2020. My goal now is to get 1000 edits on Wikipedia. I have made 500 edits and became an extended-confirmed user! I also created my first article, but it was deleted because it was not very important. It is called Wikipedia:Protection on Wikipedia articles. I use the 2017 wikitext editor, Twinkle, and citation bot.

Flags

[edit]

{{:Category:Flags}} Flags are kinda historical, to be honest. Many flags around the world have different signs. The Flag of Earth and the US is what typically makes me positive and it is beautiful. And here is some other US flags: (Note: This is only a list of flags from United states to Indiana. For ALL FLAGS, see User:Joshua's Number9/sandbox.)

Wikipedia

[edit]

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Wikipedia has more than 10 million articles in English. What I personally think about that is that Wikipedia might be a good encyclopedia, but wikipedia is being hated.

Vandalism on Wikipedia

[edit]

While Wikipedia has many free articles to edit, there are also some that are not. You see, many Wikipedia articles have been vandalized due to three reasons: Hate, Fun, and worst of all, Lie. One reason that Wikipedia is being vandalized is that most people hate it. Believe it or not, teachers and students are also hating Wikipedia. The reason they might hate it is because that they want Wikipedia to act 'cool' and use 'cool articles'. Another reason is that they like to vandalize Wikipedia as a sign of fun, which is not good. Third of all (the important reason) is that when people edit, they will most likely add citations as a sign of helping Wikipedia. However, these citations might bring you to an inappropriate website, which shows inappropriate things. This is what makes Wikipedia miserable. However, there is one person who fights against vandalism, and that is ClueBot NG! (His user page is here: User:ClueBot NG)

ClueBot NG

[edit]

ClueBot NG is a bot user who fights against vandalism. He has 5 million edits, and his edits are revert edits. Reverting an edit is when you undo an edit by a user, particulary because of vandalism, copyright violations, or other. NG will revert an edit by you in less than a minute.

Protection locks on Wikipedia

[edit]

Wikipedia articles are not only free to edit, but they are also protected. Protection on Wikipedia articles may be a sign of vandalism, or maybe because it is a good article. Here are some protections.

Semi-protection: Semi-protection articles are the first lock to protect Wikipedia. Your account needs to be 4 days old with 10 edits to edit a semi-protection article.
