Wincenty Styczyński (born December 12, 1872, died April 18, 1922) was a Polish national activist and doctor. From 1919 to 1922 he was a member of Gliwice city council, where he was a leader of pro-Polish fraction.[1][2][3]

Biography

He was a son of a teacher from Śrem, Wincenty Styczyński and his wife Modesta.[4] He graduated from Śrem Gymnasium[2], where in 1893 he passed Matura exam.[4] After graduating in 1899 from Wrocław Medical University,[2][5] he started working as a doctor in Górny Śląsk. Since 1901 he was a member of Bank Ludowy (People's Bank) in Gliwice and Towarzystwo Czytelni Ludowych (People Athenaeums' Association), he also co-funded Towarzystwo Lekarzy Polaków na Śląsku (Silesian Polish Doctors' Association). He was a chairman of Polish election comitee for Reichstag.[6] In 1914, he was arrested and was unvolountarily conscripted to German army.[2]

In 1919, he became a member of Gliwice town council, where he was a leader of pro-Polish fraction. In 1920 he became an activist in Polski Komisariat Plebiscytowy.[2] During the Silesian Uprisings, he helped to treat the wounded.[7]

In 1923, he was killed by a German raider. After moving his corpses to Poznań, a service was held by his brother, Tadeusz Styczyński. On April 25, 1922, he was buried in Saint Wojciech's Church Cemetery, Poznań.[8][9]
