Hi, my name is David Woods, but I've gone by the handle LuxFX on many many sites since about 1997. The handle comes from my interest in visual special effects - Lux (as in light / illumination) Effects, get it?
Almost since the creation of Wikipedia, I have used it as a consumer alone (probably 10 times a day). I'm changing that now, I intend to involve myself in much more editing activities. One exception has been a MediaWiki installation I added to my birnamdesigns.com domain (now defunct) where I stored many problem-solving solutions for each access. You know, those solutions that are hard to remember because you only need to use them once every couple of years?
I live in the middle of nowhere! Ok, well not exactly, but as close as I could get. This is important for me. I've lived in cities before (Chicago, Kansas City, and Richmond) and I find the constant noise and people to be draining. So I stopped renting a log cabin in the woods every summer to get away to, and actually bought one to live in.
My favorite activities are learning, backyard astronomy, playing video games, remodeling my house, and working on my car.
I have been a web developer since 1998, and have covered many facets within that realm, including design work. I have settled on front end development in the past few years and my current favorites are user experience and UI development.
