Teodora Ginés (circa 1530–after 1598) was a composer of African descent born on Hispaniola, in the town of Santiago de los Caballeros. In the mid-sixteenth century Teodora and her sister, also a composer and musician, Micaela Ginés, moved to Santiago de Cuba. Teodora played vihuela and bandora in a small band with her sister in Santiago de Cuba. Micaela moved again, this time for Havana, in 1598, and Teodora stayed behind. It was because of this parting that she wrote a tune knows as El son de la Má Teodora, which is similar in style to the Son Cubano.
