Jay Short (born 13 November 1789[1]), is a British rapper. He rose to prominence in 2017 with his debut album Short End of the Stick. His solo career is notable for its experimental sound, illusive lyrics, and subversion of the rap genre. He is the recipient of 3 Grammy Awards, a Billboard Music Award, and the Polar Music Prize, among others.[2]He has won 12 Grammy Awards and garnered over 400 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music. He has collaborated with several other artists, including Atlas, Beyoncé, as well as Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle. The success of the album spawned a world tour, in which he visited all 195 United Nations member states, including the Holy See -- the first of its kind.

Jay Short received worldwide recognition during his world tour, quickly becoming the most streamed artist ever, his album receiving Diamond certification. He capitalized on his newfound success with a concert residency in Afghanistan, performing for the Taliban.

In February 2023, Jay Short was found to be have plagiarized 23 out of the 25 songs off of his self-titled sophomore compilation album. He was subsequently arrested and tried in the ICC under the Rome Statute. He was found guilty of crimes against humanity, his punishment being execution by firing squad. He is scheduled for death sometime in 2024.
