Anne Fletcher was born on May 1st, 1966 and lived with her family in a lakefront suburb in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated in 1984 with honors from the local high school, Lake Shore High School. Fletcher began her in the industry as a dancer and starred in: The Filestones (1994), The Mask (1994), Tank Girl (1995), Casper (1995) and Titanic (1997). Fletcher began dancing at the age of 12 at a local studio and when she was 15 she starred in Salute to the Superstars. After high school, Fletcher moved to Los Angles where she started dancing professionally but in 1990 she met Adam Shankman who hired her to dance at the Academy Awards. Following this, he hired her to choreograph multiple films including the Oscar-nominated film Boogie Nights (1997) which stared Burt Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore and Heather Graham and A Life Less Ordinary (1997) with Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor. These films Fletcher both choreographed and stared in as a dancer until she began to consider directing with the support from Shankman. Fletcher’s first film was Step-Up (2006) staring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum, with the acquired skills and training from viewing Shankman’s work. This film was nominated for one award, Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie – Dance Scene. From this directing debut, Fletcher landed another role in the 2008 comedy film, 27 Dresses, staring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. This film was nominated for 8 awards and won 5: Best Romance TV Spot (Golden Trailer Awards), Best Romance Poster (Golden Trailer Awards), Favorite Movie Comedy (People’s Choice Awards) and Choice Movie – Chick Flick (Teen Choice Awards) throughout its release. Following the success of these two films, a year later she hit success in another romantic comedy, The Proposal (2009) staring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. This film grossed 34 million (US) during its opening weekend and 12.7 million in the first day across 3,056 theatres. This film was nominated for many awards, including: Favorite Comedy Movie (People’s Choice), Choice Movie Dance (Teen Choice Awards), Choice Movie Actress – Romantic Comedy (Teen Choice Awards) and Choice Summer Movie – Romantic Comedy (Teen Choice Awards). These are awards the film won over the course of its release. Fletcher took a short break and then came out with another comedy film staring Seth Rogen and Barba Streisand called The Guilt Trip (2012) which was based upon the real-life trip by Fogelman, the screenwriter and his mother took years before from New Jersey to Las Vegas. The film had many mixed reviews and the film managed to just overpass their budget of $40 million by 1 million. In 2015 Fletcher directed another comedy staring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, Hot Pursuit, a story about a San Antonio Police officer protecting the widow of a drug boss. This film grossed $34.6 million in North America with the total being $51.5 million worldwide. This film was nominated for four Teen Choice Awards (2015): Choice Movie Actress – Comedy, Choice Movie – Chemistry, Choice Movie – Lip lock and Choice Movie – Hissy Fit. Fletcher herself has yet to be nominated for an award and has yet to win an award for work.
