[edit]Known as Ovamboland, former homeland of the Ovambo people, situated north of [1], was divided into the districs of Oshikoto, Oshana, Omusati and Ohangwena regions.It is now known as the "Four O Regions". More than a half of Namibia entire population lives here just on 6% of Namibian territory.
Landscape
[edit]The landscape is flat , monotonous and dotted with settlements.Mopane , Marula and Wild Fig trees turns up occassionally between the fields and kraals and one can also find Hyphaene petersiana (Makalani palm trees) which are the symbols of Owambo area.After heavy rains in the region,many little lakes and ponds forms due to the water that comes from the Cuvelai Drainage System in Southern Angola reaching down to Etosha Pan.
Developments
[edit]Since independence , the government has endeavored to settle industry in the north, create jobs and improve the poor infrastructures. Pre-independence tourists totally ignored the area but now tourism is beginning to emerge.

[edit]Nakambale Museum
[edit]Is situated in Olukonda just 11 km south-west of Ondangwa.The museum is housed in the former house of "Nakambale" (the Finish Missionary, Martti Rautenen) ,the museum includes a live size replica of a traditional Ndonga homestead with all the different sections labbeled. Visitors to the museum can be provided with guided tour of the homestead. Visitors can also order tradional meal (ovambo chicken) and cultural performances can also be arranged for larger groups. Etosha National Park
[edit]Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa's finest and most popular game reserves. Etosha Game Park was declared as a national park in 1907 and covers an area of 22270 square kilometers and it is a home to 114 mammals species, 304 bird species, 16 amphibian species and surprisingly one species of fish. Etosha is one of the first places on any itinerary designed for holidays in Namibia. Visitors to Etosha Game Reserve can be expected to see many buck species, giraffes, the Big Five game. More fortunate visitors can will see cheetahs and wildebeests. There is a network of roads linking the main five camps in the park which are: [3], [4]and [5] which both has tourist facilities such as bars, restaurant, swimming pools, accommodation, conference centers as well as camping facilities.
Ruacana Waterfall
[edit]It is situated 17 kilometers east of Ruacana town in Omusati region.The dramatic 85 meters Ruacana Falls was once a natural wonder due to the Caluegue Dam across Angolan border, however the falls are but a fraction of their former glory,the river is dotted with quaint lodges offering a variety of water sports on the Kunene River. Outapi War Museum
[edit]Outapi War Museum is located underground in the operational South African Regime Base situated in Outapi. The museum is multifunctional whereby the Tourism and Historical information are the major activities. The newly structured designed to cater for a conference hall, internet cafe bed and breakfast (accommodation) ,refreshment area with a restaurant.You can also find war material display artifacts, badges, posters, photographs personal news, artillery anti aircraft guns and weapons used. Not far from the museum you can also find the Ombalantu baobab tree.
