The article combines Wikipedia's alternative TV channel lists dedicated to Multichannel television in Canada to provide a quick reference to the origin and programming of each TV channel with added flexibility to sort them according to channels' language, lunch, kind, genre, HD feed and other characteristics.   • The licenses are listed under their provisional titles at the time their respective service was licensed. Subsequently, many licenses were renewed under a different name.
  • If the channel has been converted from Pay TV to Specialty TV undertaking, both the name of original pay TV and the name of specialty TV licenses are listed. In addition, both the year when the original Pay TV service was launched and the year when the channel was converted into Specialty TV service are listed as well.
  • The table is sortable. The most useful sorts are “Brand Name”; "License Type”; “Year of Lunch”; “Programming”, and "HD Feed"

  • 4 MusiquePlus: Prior to 1988, the MusiquePlus brand was a division of MuchMusic. The service began broadcasting on September 2, 1986 with an 8-hour schedule sharing channel space with TVJQ. US Over-The-Air TV Stations Available in Canada

  • The table lists US over-the-air stations authorized by CRTC for either national or local distribution and that are currently carried by at least one cable or satellite provider.
  • The US Networks (ABC; CBC; NBC; Fox; and PBS) are subject to the 4+1 rule set up by CRTC, that is a cable or satellite provider generally may only carry out two sets of ABC; CBC; NBC; Fox; and PBS signals, some exceptions are applied.
  • The stations that are designated by CRTC as superstations are subject to the linkage requirement, that is every superstation must be linked to a Canadian Pay or Special TV service. Not all superstaions are "true" superstaions as defined by the Federal Communications Commission.
  • CRTC authorizes some cable providers to distribute certain US stations that can be picked up over-the-air in the ares where these providers serve. These stations are not available for national distribution.
