Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages (Uzbek: Samarqand davlat chet tillari instituti; English: Samarkand state institute of foreign languages) - a state institute of foreign languages located in the city Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Located near Samarkand State University, along Boulevard of the Same Name] and Bustonsaroy Street. It is one of the largest higher education institutions for learning foreign languages in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
The Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages was organized by decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov dated November 8, 1994. It is one of the largest Uzbekistan and Central Asia institutions for the study of foreign languages. At present, the institute is preparing highly qualified foreign philologists of specialists, including guide-interpreters for higher and secondary specialized education, as well as tourism infrastructures.
The institute has 3 faculties and 16 departments. They include: 14 centers of language and culture, a territorial (zonal) center for language training, a center for ensuring the quality of education and innovation, as well as an information resource center equipped with educational and multimedia equipment. The institute has a bachelor degree (in 11 areas), a magistracy (in 8 specialties), a doctoral program (4 profiles). There is a hostel for 350 students, as well as a canteen for 250 people.
Currently, personnel are being prepared in the following specialties: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. In recent years, four scholarship holders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, more than ten scholarships named after Alisher Navoi, as well as more than a hundred winners of various programs and competitions have left the institute. In the current academic year, the institute enrolls 2,963 students in undergraduate studies, 145 in graduate programs and 14 in doctoral studies. Currently 324 professors and teachers work at the educational institution, including 16 doctors of science, professors, 70 candidates of science, associate professors and 124 teachers, among them 20 foreign specialists.
Also, the institute has signed agreements with foreign higher educational institutions on cooperation with more than 45 countries of the world, including universities and institutes of such countries as: Russia, Ukraine, Germany, United Kingdom , France, Italy, United States, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and other countries.

[edit]The dean of the faculty is - Ismailov Anvar Rustamovich. The departments of the Faculty: The Department of Teaching and Practice of the English Language, the Department of English Phonetics, the Department of Vocabulary and Stylistics, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Department of English History and Grammar.
Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology
[edit]The dean of the faculty is - Primov Bakhodir Yarashovich. Departments of the Faculty: Department of French Philology, Department of German Philology, and the Department of Romance Philology.
Faculty of Translation Studies
[edit]The dean of the faculty is - Odilov Bakhodir Bakhtiyarovich. The departments of the faculty: the inter-faculty department of computer science, the department of theoretical linguistics and oriental languages, the department of physical culture and ecology, and the department of "Pedagogy and Psychology" [1].
