Hello, guys and girls! I am SubDural12, also known as Dominick.

I am 18 years old, and medicine is my favorite hobby. What I love most about the human anatomy is the nervous system and its many constituents. Some people believe that it is wrong to choose one single favorite aspect of the human body. I have been disdained for it before. There are a few certain things about neurology that interest me to great depths. One example would include the neuronal synapses, and my reason is a simple and under appreciated one. These nerve cells create stable, long term junctions with one another. This simple act amazes me because of the fact that every memory that is made is creating new neural pathways. Another fascination of mine is the dielectric material coating the axon of this wonderful cell. When you create a bad memory, you remember it for a very long time. This is because specialized glial cells of the central nervous system (called oligodendrocytes) wrap their long arms around these neural pathways and protect the connection.

I appreciate all aspects of the human body almost equally, but it would not be fair to lie about choosing my favorite. There are other marvels that amaze me equally such as the lesser known immunological synapse.
