Matthew Z Miller (User:thomasturkey) is the Director of Media Operations for the Kickball League of Rochester.
In the Spring of 2010, Matt (re)discovered who was thought to have invented kickball. Before, the oldest record of kickball dated back to 1942-1943, it lacked citation and could not used as a credible source. Having previously had success using Google Books, he found a source for who invented the game.
On April 20th, 2015 at 2:43am, Matt was able to successfully disprove Nicholas C. Seuss as the inventor of kickball through extensive additional and on-going research with a credible published source. Matt has planned to reveal this information at a to be determined date and time. On December 10, 2020, Matt created the biography page for Dr. Emmett Dunn Angell and connected him as the rightful earliest known cited claim as the inventor of the game of Kickball.
Matt has been playing kickball since 1987, when he was 5 years old. He, along with his 5 siblings would play in their backyard challenging the neighborhood children. He played with the standard 8.5inch playground ball and used old carpet samples, about the size of a welcome mat for bases. At around 15 years old, it became difficult to coordinate time to enjoy the game with his neighbors. At the age of 25, Matt was able to rekindle his passion for kickball once again shortly after Ryan Kimball founded the Kickball League of Rochester in 2007. In December of 2009, Matt began working with Ryan to help the league grow from a size of 276 teams in the calendar year of 2009 to a total of over 800 teams annually since 2011; peaking above 850 teams in a year during his tenure. As of Dec 2020, Matt continues to help KLOR thrive during COVID-19 pandemic uncertainty.
