Lewis Melvin McCreary (July 9, 1927 - January 20, 1999) was an American trombonist and bass trombonist. Known for swing, big band, jazz and popular music genres.

Born in Northumberland, Pennsylvania he started playing trombone in the town band at age ten. He attended [1] His big band career was with Glen Gray, Charlie Barnet, Claude Thornhill, Ray Anthony, and Harry Jame’s Orchestra. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army band stateside. He became a studio musician playing sessions for records albums, movies, and television shows through the decades of 1950 to 1990.
