DJ DRN
Dirk Richard Nijssen (Haarlem, 18 January 2000), professionally known as DJ DRN, is a DJ and record producer from the Netherlands. His first, and most known single is "Coming Home".
Early life
DJ DRN was born as Dirk Richard Nijssen on 18 January 2000 in Haarlem, the Netherlands, the son of Eric Nijssen and Yvonne van der Horst. He has a younger sister named Anna. From an early age Nijssen started showing interest in music. He started playing the flute when he was 5 years old, learning basic music theory along with it.
A few years later, Dirk expressed interest in Electronic Dance Music (EDM). Dirk started listening EDM every evening on his radio while he was laying in bed.
After hearing "Animals" from Martin Garrix, he became inspired to write music of his own.
Next to music, Nijssen also shows interest for karate. In 2019, he is trying for his black belt.
Career
Nijssen practised a lot on FL Studio before performing for a crowd. In 2016 however, he bought his first DJ set, Pioneer DDJ SX2, and started performing at parties.
In 2018, Nijssen uploaded his first song on Spotify. This song, "Coming Home", was his first big hit and has 50.000 Spotify streams.
To this day, Nijssen is still performing under the name DJ DRN, which stands for Disc Jockey Dirk Richard Nijssen.
