Enviralment is a Canadian blog, focusing largely on environmental, political and energy related issues that occur in Ontario and North America and is written from an eco-pragmatic perspective. Toronto-based blogger Patrick Aizen founded the blog in 2008 with the help of his friend Skyler Moran but has since become its primary contributor.
The 'about' section of the blog carries this message:
We’re not left-wing radicals or right-wing crazies. We’re just your average bourgeoisie, like you, who try to ask the important questions about the people, policies, and events that effect us all (before hopping blindly on any bandwagons) – in the hopes to create an informed discussion that can help educate and benefit the way we live.
Although it was not nominated in the 2008/2009 Weblog Awards, Aizen's posts have been featured on The Green Party of Canada's website,[1] MSN Money: Smart Spending, and in October of 2009 Enviralment was ranked the #6th most influential blog in Toronto by WeFollow[2] - the social-bookmarking website co-founded by Kevin Rose. Enviralment has also received a 9.15 out of 10 ranking on Best Green Blogs - The web's largest directory of green and sustainable themed weblogs.
The word Enviralment is a portmanteau of the words environment and viral referring to viral phenomenon.
