[edit]The article on Geriatric psychology was created by many publishers through Wikiedu for the audience of varies generations, but most particularly the elderly. The elder and health care workers would best benefit from the educational purposes of this article. The aging community can greatly benefit from this article gaining more education on their selves and aging peers. The workers in the field of geriatric care can benefit through the helpful education taken from the reading for their current and coming elder patients and or family members needing this care. The article and topic itself were both interesting but loaded with information concerning psychological affects of the older generations. Geriatric psychology talks about older adults and their minds and where about throughout the world.

[edit]Geriatric psychology is related to aging, but more typically the aging of older adults. The neurological and psychological aspects of life are the focus' here in the psychology of geriatric health. The study and research collide to agree that these two factors are very important in the study of the elderly. It specializes in the later stages of life and those individuals physical and mental health. Loneliness, depression, and their physical and mental state are key as well as many disorders that may occur with each older individual. This is all important because the article tells us that there is a slight increase within the United States whole population of older adults. With this being in state, in the year of 1978, the awareness of aging mental health raise and became more important and focused on. Later throughout the years there was a small group with a total of about 11 people in conversation meeting about the the elder population and there overall well being. This group later grew larger to be known as a group titled by the name of American Association of Geriatric Psychology (AAGP).

[edit]The article tells us as the reader that "geriatric psychologists work with elderly clients to conduct the diagnosis, study, and treatment of certain mental illnesses" ("Geriatric psychology."). Geriatric psychology speaks on all of the any different mental disorders that happen in the later stages of older adult lives and sometimes at an earlier stage in younger adults as well, just more commonly in older.
