No, see Special:Contributions/223.24.102.70. I reverted the edit here. Johnuniq (talk) 07:43, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi cool bot!

You can make edits the moment someone else edits! You are a cool robot. I am sorry to take away from anybody’s time. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.31.172.142 (talk) 01:30, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

About the archiving bot

Thank you for running User:lowercase sigmabot III! Does it run exclusively on English Wikipedia or on other language versions as well? I could not find any information about this on User:Lowercase sigmabot III/Archive HowTo. --Bensin (talk) 23:22, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

@Bensin: The bot curretly only runs on English Wikipedia. However, I'm open to expanding its range. What other wikis were you interested in archiving pages at? Σσς(Sigma) 18:24, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
That is very generous! I would appreciate if I could use the bot's service on Swedish wikipedia at https://sv.wikipedia.org Thank you! --Bensin (talk) 19:01, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Ah, sorry, I thought you had another English wiki in mind. Sadly, I don't spea kSwedish. If there's a Swedish speaker who has some experience with Python and a computer or server to run things on, they might be a better fit. Σσς(Sigma) 23:58, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
@Bensin: And if there is such a person I will be glad to help them out with setting things up of course Σσς(Sigma) 01:24, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Broken archiving because of title being forbidden...

Hullo Σ - There's an issue with the archiving bot not running on Talk:Nigger which you can see at the editing history. The bot stopped running in October 2017, giving the following edit summary:

Archive failure: ceterach.exceptions.EditError: 'titleblacklist-forbidden': CeterachError('The title "Talk:Nigger/Archive 7" has been banned from creation. It matches the following blacklist entry: " .*nig{2,}er.* # nigger"',)) (bot)

I don't know how to fix this etc - could someone around here please fix it? The talk page gets too much attention to rely on manual archiving. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 07:13, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

This is a somewhat recurring problem that has to do with the fact that the bot isn't considered a user with actual permissions; it's just a bot. As is, there is not really a straightforward solution. I'm wondering if it's possible for an admin to give the bot some permission so this will not be a problem.. Σσς(Sigma) 07:23, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
This strikes me as something that might be fixed by granting +templateeditor (technically, +accountcreator, +sysop, or +bureaucrat would also work) to the bot, but I'm not sure if additional work to the bot code itself is needed - I know on the account creation side, an extra checkbox needs to be checked to override the title blacklist, but I don't recall seeing it for pages. I'm not gonna grant +templateeditor myself, but I think it's probably worth looking at as a possible fix. stwalkerster (talk) 12:57, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Getting this issue corrected would be awesome - until then this will continue to be a problem on all talk pages with one of the Forbidden Words in the title... Shearonink (talk) 14:50, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
  • To judge by Wikipedia:User access levels#Table only administrators, bureaucrats, and template editors can over-ride the title black list: it does not mention account creators. Obviously there is no question of granting this bot administrator or bureaucrat status, but is there really any strong reason not to grant template editor? I can't see one. As for whether it can be done without extra The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:13, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
  • Update. I have now manually created the archive page, and archived all sections not edited this year. That took edits back as far as July 2017. The size of the page was not enormously excessive, and I have seen far longer talk pages. I don't see any reason not to think that manual archiving once every few months would be perfectly sufficient. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:24, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
    • @JamesBWatson: Oops - I was checking Special:ListGroupRights (which as a side note is guaranteed to be up-to-date) and doing a search for "tboverride", which of course returned four results. I missed that accountcreator has tboverride-account, not tboverride - apologies - I've struck it from my list above. I also suspect that this isn't the only case where this issue is being hit - I'd be tempted to give the bot +templateeditor anyway, unless there's a reason not to. stwalkerster (talk) 15:59, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Yeah stwalkerster....this broken archiving condition must exist for other banned/controversial words being in titles, it would be helpful to just have them all fixed at once. Shearonink (talk) 17:01, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
